Sandeep (name) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Sandeep (name) Sandeep or Sundeep (Devanagari: सन्दीप् ''sandīp'' or संदीप् ''saṃdīp'') is a popular Nepali and Indian name. It can be divided into two elements: ''sat'' (or ''saṃ'') and ''dīp''. ''Sat'' refers to goodness or virtue, and ''dīp'' refers to a light. ''Saṃdīp'', or Sandeep, is formed when these two syllables are combined through the grammatical process of sandhi. Thus, ''Sandeep'' is interpreted to mean "a virtuous light." The name also sometime refers to "Light God". The name may also refer to enlightenment: the word ''saṃdīpa'' in Sanskrit can mean "enlightened." It is also possible that the name is derived from Sāndīpani Muni, the guru of Krishna. It is primarily used by men and women from Hindu or Sikh backgrounds.
